Gravity Ballet Taipei — Official Opening on October 20!
Opening a dance studio in Taipei has proven to be even harder than producing a full dance performance! Located inside the Alife building, the site comes with its own unique challenges. Add to that partial leasing, usage license, building administration, public safety, the Department of Urban Development, and the Sports Administration… (I’ll spare you the next thousand words 😅).
But truly — I’ve been working on this since April (tears). Producing a show is often about pushing myself to the edge — something I’m used to. But this time, the process was full of things I couldn’t control: the endless debate over usage license, waiting 28 days for the landlord’s (corporate) approval, files sitting untouched on an officer’s desk for ten days before being returned by a substitute during her leave, and then new requests for additional documents after another turnover of staff. Each stage felt like a level in a never-ending game, and after four months, I was almost losing my mind.
I’ll spare you the rest of this roller coaster since April — the point is, we’re ready!
This long wait gave me the chance to refine both the hardware and systems in our studio. When our doors open, I hope everything feels just right. To everyone who has followed along since July — thank you for your patience, encouragement, and support. And I’m truly sorry for “coming soon” for more than three months… this time, I finally get to write the date!
